OPTIONAL REMOTE CONTROL
A hand-held remote control unit is available from CVS for a small additional monthly charge ($1.50). The remote control allows numerical channel selection and favorite channel recall. Remote control service is locked out on the
cable box if remote control service is not purchased. The remote control service must be purchased for any remote control to function. Call CVS if you wish to add this option.

USING THE REMOTE CONTROL
To use the remote control, point it in the direction of the
cable box and press the appropriate keys.
The remote control unit is powered by two AAA batteries. Alkaline batteries offer the longest battery life. If the range of the remote control becomes noticeably shorter, or the set-top no longer responds to the remote control keypad entries, replace the batteries following these steps.
| 1. Press down on the spot marked OPEN on the back of the remote control. Push away from the unit to remove the battery cover |

| 2. Insert the two AAA batteries. Make sure the positive (+) and negative (-)
cable box's marked on the batteries match the cable box's marked in the remote control unit and the batteries are fully seated in the battery compartment. |

| 3. Snap the battery cover back in place. |

TURNING YOUR
CABLE BOX ON AND OFF
Your TV should be plugged into the AC outlet at the back of the
cable box. If it is plugged in, whenever the cable box is turned on the television will come on also. If you set the VCR times, the
cable box and your TV will come on at the time you designated. You should be aware of this so you do not become alarmed when the TV comes on automatically.
You can turn your 8580
cable box on and off from the cable box keys on the remote control by following the steps listed below. When you turn on your
cable box, you are tuned to the last channel that you watched.

| 1. Check you TV first to make sure it is turned ON, and that its channel selector is tuned to channel 3. |

| 4. To turn off the time display, press OFF again. No time is displayed, but the clock is still enabled. To display the time again, turn the
cable box on and then off again. This time is now displayed. To turn off the time feature, refer to

SELECTING CHANNELS
You can select channels either by directly entering or scanning channels. To directly enter channels, you can only use a remote control. You can use the
cable box keys or the remote control keypad to select a channel by scanning.

RECALLING FAVORITE CHANNELS
Of the many channels available via cable TV, it is possible you will discover several favorites, or perhaps you will want to keep track of several programs on different channels over the course of an evening. You can program from one to fifteen channels into memory for instant recall. You must use RCL which is located only on the remote control when entering, recalling, and erasing channels in memory.

| 1. First, turn on the
cable box. |

| 2. Press PRG to begin adding channels to memory. The letters PR will appear on the display |

| 3. Enter, one at a time, the channel numbers that you want to put into memory. Enter channel numbers by the direct channel entry method, described previously. For example, to select channel 6, press "0" "6". |

| 4. You may continue to add up to 15 channels into memory. If you pause when adding channels, the
cable box display will alternately show the letters Pr and the last channel number entered. |

| 5. When you are finished adding channels into memory, press RCL to set the memory |

RECALLING CHANNELS IN MEMORY

6. Press RCL to step through the channels you have recorded. Each time you press RCL, the
cable box will change to the next channel in memory.

| 7. To add more channels into memory, follow steps 2 through 5 given above. Once you have entered 15 channels into memory, you may not enter more channels until you erase channels from memory |

9. Enter the channel number that you want to erase. Press "-" and then RCL.
Example: To erase channel 6 from

| 12. Channels in memory are now erased and you can enter a new series of channel numbers. This function can be repeated as often as desired so different viewers watching TV at different times can all enjoy this feature. |
